D.bé Jayri - Singer/Songwriter

Born in 1987 and raised in Kingston Jamaica, D.bé Jayri started singing in the Church at the age of 8 years old. Though the Church maybe a typical starting point for many Gospel, R&B and Pop artists, he has taken and wishes to further share his talent in different areas of life and societies. In 2001 at the age of 14 years, he decided to pursue a profession in singing, he desired to become an international recording artist.

After migrating to the Greater Toronto Area in Canada in 2009, Jayri continued his journey in music. In his undergraduate years at York University he took all of his elected courses in music; the York University Gospel Chior (as a tenor, 2012 to 2014), the Male Vocal Ensemble as a bass (classical, as a bass, 2011 and 2013), Introduction to Classical Singing (as a tenor, 2012) and Staging and Movement in Classical Singing (as a tenor, 2012)...all can be found on videos on one of his YouTube Channels.

Now a graduate of York University and finishing his Masters degree in African, Caribbean and Latin American history, he got motivated through his studies to write and compose the songs off his first EP called "Soul Glimpse", digitally released in July of 2016. This introduces D.bé Jayri into to the world of songwriting and into the music industry in general. His next music project (album) will incorporate the power of music with history and story-telling.
